A "residential rental application" is a form to be filled out by a prospective tenant in order for the landlord to determine the creditworthiness of applicant and other important information relevant to the landlord's decision of whether or not to rent the premises to the applicant. A residential rental application will typically request the following information:

• Name, address and social security number
• Yearly income
• Past rental history
• Name and phone number of prior landlords
• Authorization to run a credit check
