A "limited warranty" is a contractual promise by a manufacturer or seller of goods or services, with various limitations and condition, regarding the quality of the goods or services sold. For example, a limited warranty could limit the time the goods are covered, the types of damages covered, or a dollar limitation on the liability of the manufacturer. The conditions to the limited warranty could include items such as that the goods be properly used, have not been modified, and have not been damaged by the acts of the buyer. Software license agreements typically contain a limited warranty, as do contracts dealing with the sale of equipment.
